The MSYC Choristers is a group made up of beginning singers who may or may not have previous singing experience. The MSYC Chorale is a more advanced group that is audition-based. Though you don’t need previous singing experience to audition for the Chorale, it is recommended.
MSYC auditions are held in August prior to the start of the following new concert season. For more audition information, current audition dates, or to register for an audition visit the MSYC page on the website or contact us by email.
Additional auditions may be scheduled throughout the MSYC season at the discretion of the Chorus Director. Please contact us by email if you would like to audition mid-season.
MSYC is a season-long commitment. Consistent attendance and preparation at rehearsals is essential to performance quality, educational value, morale of the ensemble, and retention of membership. Please see the member handbook for more detailed information on MSYC requirements.
Rehearsals are held at the Emmanuel Lutheran Church at 324 College Ave in Modesto. The Choristers rehearse on Mondays from 4:30-5:30pm and the Chorale rehearses on Mondays from 6:00-7:30pm. For more detailed information, please see the season calendar.
MSYC programs are designed to complement members’ personal music development – not be a substitute for other means of instruction. The MSYC strongly suggests that all members contribute their talents to their appropriate school program, where available. This supports our school music curriculum and helps to provide strong leadership and musical role models in the school environment. We believe in the value of music education in collaboration with our community.
