Want to Audition for the MSYO?
Auditions for the upcoming season are in May and are open to students in 5th-12th grade. Candidates are assigned a 5-8 minute audition time and may be asked to sight read. All candidates are required to pay a non-refundable $20 audition fee. Results will be announced via email by June 30th, 2019, and all students will be notified regardless of outcome.
MSYO Audition Dates
May 15th – All Concert Orchestra (5th - 9th grades)
May 22nd – Symphony Orchestra Winds and Percussion (9th - 12th grades)
May 29th – Symphony Orchestra Strings (9th-12th grades)
If you are in 9th grade and would like to be considered for Symphony Orchestra, please schedule an audition for the 22nd or 29th.
If you are unable to make your designated audition day, please contact the Education Manager.
Please plan to arrive at least 30 minutes before your scheduled audition time. It is very important to make sure you allow yourself extra travel time and look out for any possible traffic delays.
Where are MSYO auditions held?
Auditions are held at the CSU Stanislaus music building at One University Cir, Turlock, CA 95382. We recommended that you park in lot 3 and walk across the bridge to the music building. When and where are rehearsals held?
Rehearsals are held in the CSU Stanislaus music building. Both the Concert Orchestra and Symphony Orchestra rehearse everyone Wednesday from 4:30-6:30pm. For more detailed information, please see the season calendar.
What are the requirements for membership?
MSYO is a season-long commitment. Consistent attendance and preparation at rehearsals is essential to performance quality, educational value, morale of the ensemble, and retention of membership. Please see the member handbook for more detailed information on MSYO requirements.
Is there a fee to enroll in MSYO?
MSYO tuition is $440 per year. We make our programs accessible to all students, regardless of their financial background. Need-based financial assistance is available for MSYO members.
