Mariachi Cobre

Over the past decade and a half, the 37-year-old Mariachi Cobre has treated the symphonic pops market to some fabulous performances. Cobre has played dates with 35 orchestras in the United States and Mexico including Boston, Cincinnati, Minnesota, Milwaukee, Buffalo, Utah, Atlanta, Louisville, San Antonio and Guadalajara to name a few. Tonight, they are delighted to bring the traditional sounds of Mexico back to Modesto for the third time.

Cobre has long been a mariachi ambassador to the world through its work as the house band at the Mexican Pavilion of Walt Disney World’s Epcot in Orlando, FL. For 26 years Cobre has given people from around the globe their first taste of the mariachi genre, making it count with an unmistakably world class caliber of performance.

Since its founding in 1971, the Mariachi Cobre has played a key role in the preservation and dissemination of Mexico’s most representative musical folk form. They are responsible for popularizing an educational/festival format which has come to be known as a “Mariachi Conference”. This concept has spread throughout the United States and as a result, the importance and popularity of these events has caused an upsurge of dozens of youth mariachis and heightened the level of study and appreciation of this musical form.

Mariachi Cobre recordings include: “Mariachi Cobre”, “Este es Mi Mariachi”, “XV Anniversary”, and “The Latin Album” – Keith Lockhart and the Boston Pops.

Cobre members include: Randy Carrillo, Stephen Carrillo, Arturo Pasalagua, Pablo Héctor Gama, Carlos Gama, Omar Olivas, Roberto Martínez, Israel Gálvez Molina, Miguel Ángel Molina, Antonio Hernández, Mack Ruiz, and Mario Trujillo.
