YOUNG IDOL 2005 COMPETITION GIVING AMATEUR SINGERS THE CHANCE OF A LIFETIME
Darryl One and the Modesto Symphony Orchestra announce Young Idol 2005, a talent competition giving amateur singers the chance to appear with the orchestra at its annual Holiday Candlelight celebration, performing in all three concerts before thousands of people and an engagement in the 2006/07 Season.
The Young Idol 2005 competition kicks off on Saturday, September 17, 2005, with open to the public auditions at Center Court, Vintage Faire Mall, 3401 Dale Road in Modesto from 10 am-8 pm. Each five-minute audition slot will be filled on a first-come, first-served basis by pre-registration (download registration form) or online at http://www.modestosymphony.org/idolsignup.sj . If there are extra spaces or cancellations, walk-ups will be considered.

Walk-ups will be accepted after 3:30 p.m. Saturday at Center Court, Vintage Faire Mall.
Participants must be prepared to sing a cappella (without accompaniment) a song of their choice, from Country to Rock, Opera to Pop, all genres are encouraged. The top vocalists will return Sunday, September 18, 2005 to the Center Court, Vintage Faire Mall from 1pm-4pm and will perform in front of a panel of celebrity judges led by Maestro Darryl One. The panel of celebrity judges will select the finalists who will each record a demo at PCMM Recording Studio in preparation for the public round of judging. This final round will be judged online, all demos and finalists’ profiles will be placed on www.modbee.com and the public cast their vote for their favorite vocalist beginning Thursday, September 22, 2005 through Thursday, November 17, 2005 at noon. The public’s choice Young Idol 2005 winner will get to showcase their talent before a live audience, performing onstage with Darryl One and the Modesto Symphony Orchestra at its Holiday Candlelight concerts, December 4, 2005 and the opportunity to sing with the Modesto Symphony Orchestra during the 2006/07 Season.
Young Idol 2005 is open to United States residents under 18 (as of December 31, 2005). Entrants are ineligible if they have any type of talent representation or a recording contract. Employees, board members, independent contractors, and volunteers of the Modesto Symphony Orchestra, their immediate family members, and those living in the same household are not eligible. Due to space and time restrictions, open auditions on September 17, 2005 will be held on a first-come, first-served basis, with no guarantee that every entrant will be heard.
