Our opening concerts are a wonderful combination of orchestral favorites. The MSO will perform music by Marquez, Tchaikovsky, Smetna, Debussy and end with the 1812 Overture all in one night! To complete this essential experience, renowned pianist John O’Conor will perform Tchaikovsky’s Piano Concerto No. 1.

Our second concert includes two works by living composers. The first piece, Miller’s Fantasia on Pachelbel’s Canon will also be its world premiere! David Lockington commissioned the second piece approximately 25 years ago, from the composer and visual artist William Hill. This work, Seven Abstract Miniatures, will be performed by the composer himself and will be accompanied by seven slides of Mr. Hill’s pen and ink drawings which inspired his composition. We will conclude this performance with the joyful and rhythmic Beethoven Symphony No. 4.

This concert features three incredible Russian composers, Khachaturian, Stravinsky and Rachmaninoff. Our guest artist is one of David Lockington’s favorite young pianists, Terrence Wilson. Wilson will use his virtuosity to communicate the passion in Rachmaninoff’s Piano Concerto No. 3!

Mahler tried to explain the meaning of life through his music. Enjoy Mahler in a new way as David Lockington shares unique perspectives on Mahler, his 4th Symphony and its place in musical history. This special presentation will include slides, video, and orchestral excerpts before the piece is played in its entirety.
