This concert of epic proportions opens with Phillip Sawyers’ American debut of Symphony No. 2. Ravel offers a musical memorial wreath in the memory of Couperin with whom he shares a passion for grace and ease. Pianist Norman Krieger will present Brahms’ dynamic Piano Concerto #1 which reveals glimpses into the turmoil, sadness and triumphs of the composer’s early years.
